Parabens In Cosmetics - Do They Keep You Looking Young?

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Wendy Owen Judging by the number of anti aging skin products that contain parabens, youd have to think they contribute in a big way in protecting the skin from aging. What are parabens? Parabens are a large collection of synthetic chemical products found in most skin care and cosmetic products including moisturizers, shampoos, foundation, face powder, exfoliants, baby products There are thousands of skin care products that contain parabens, the list is endless. The reason parabens are put into skin care products is they have an antibacterial effect and act as a preservative. So what? There are two problems. The first and most serious one is the potential for parabens to be absorbed by the skin into the bloodstream from where they can lodge in our fatty tissues. As women are the main users of these products, the breast tissue is of particular concern. Parabens mimic the hormone estrogen and can be absorbed by the breast tissue. In fact parabens, in their unconverted form, have been found in breast tumours. Whats the other problem with parabens? Anti aging products are bought by both men and women in the hope of preserving the appearance of their skin. The problem is that some parabens can react to the UV rays in sunlight to produce a substance that actually accelerates aging. No problems, you may think, Ill just wear a sun block. Good idea, you should be wearing one anyway. Just check the label though because guess what? Thats right, parabens are even found in certain sun protection products. How can I tell if there are parabens in the products I use? Its very difficult because they go under so many different names! Some of the more recognisable ones are: Ethylparaben, Methylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Aseptoform Butyl and Benzoic acid. Parabens have many synonyms so without knowing all the names, which is virtually impossible, reading the label will only add to further confusion. Its fairly safe to say if you see several long names you cant pronounce on the back of a product, theres a paraben lurking somewhere inside! Over 90% of skin care products, contain these chemicals. They are there because they are cheap and until recently, considered relatively safe. The FDA has requested cosmetic companies to test the various ingredients they use to manufacture their products (May 2005). While they are to be commended for this, the process is laboriously slow and ongoing. How can I protect my family against parabens? Easy! Use natural cosmetics. The products on the site below contain no parabens whatsoever and are free of other cancer causing agents. And no, theyre not expensive! Wendy Owen is a health researcher and author. MySpace UnRavelled

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Jeffrey Solochek Twice as many members as Ebay and it is said that a quarter million new accounts are created each and every day. MySpace was originally created for garage bands as a way to network with other bands but this changed quickly as there are now over 10,000 groups each which would cater to a different Genre. I have seen a lot of books out there about this Social Networking phenomenon but most of them are guides for the parents of MySpacers and how they can protect their children. With as many members as there are I am still shocked at the so few of books for this at the local bookstore. Internet marketers are always looking for new ways in which they can target certain groups to try and sell something to. With MySpace this targeting has become much more refined and possible. Every guru out there has this special report on making money with MySpace but the majority of them only tell you how to get maybe 50 new friends each day and if you are trying to build up a network of several thousand this will command a great deal of your little free time that you have. You can buy a MySpace identity on Ebay with 10,000+ friends for like $100+ but you have to be careful with buying these identifies because a lot of them are junk ids that were just created so that someone could sell them. The best ones to look for are the sellers on Ebay who are selling off a personal identity on MySpace. An Identity with a lot of friends that they kept in touch with at least weekly. You could then purchase this ID and start posting messages to your group of friends. After you have resumed the chatter with everybody you could put an affiliate link in your message which is going out to over 10k friends. Imagine the money you could make. Most of these low cost MySpace marketing reports do have some great information but the problem that I found was that they only each tell you a few things and then you have to buy a more expensive product to find out everything else.. I did come across a new Ebook lately that gives you everything you could possible ever need to know. The author does have some software tools that he has created but his book will show you how to do the same marketing even without the automated software.ake from this. There are a lot of software products for people who wish to make money with MySpace but most of them only perform one task. There are no suites that I have found that would keep you from having to have all these separate applications running. The author of this book that I just told you about is actually having a software suite for MySpace marketing specially built which he tells me should be done in the not so distant near future. He is calling his book the MySpaceJobKiller and I have to tell you that I picked up on a lot of great information to help accelerate my own MySpace marketing, Most of the marketing guides that are out there today tell you how to get a lot of friends by joining several groups with large memberships but this guy, Jake, tells you how to get a lot of friends in other ways. He got almost a 1,000 friend requests in less than 24 hours without joining a group or by spamming anybody. Jake tells you about all these little tricks plus he gives you some great coding for you to use. Jake even gives you a lot of great resource links to other sites where you can get a lot of great things for your MySpace profiles. Of all the reports, books, and courses I’ve seen out there none of them are so detailed and cost less than 10 dollars like this one does. I give this book 5 stars. if you want to see Jakes book then all you have to do is add the com ending to MySpaceJobKiller Jeffrey has over 2 decades experience in the business world. When he writes he blends his unique wit and humour into every article which if you rread his blog you can see all of his many works. http://www.nosugarcoating.info Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jeffrey_Solochek http://EzineArticles.com/?MySpace-UnRavelled&id=473611 zolpidem pdr ambien cr free is it safe to take oxycodone with ambien lorazepam no prescription

Don’t Get In Too Much of a Hurry

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By Mike Baptiste I want to let fellow anglers know to take your time fishing your bait. It’s very important a lot of times to slow down and make sure you’re working the cover to the fullest. I want to tell a story… Our first trip on the lake bassin’ last season, I was fishing the flowage in styles. It was me, my girl, and her brother. We started early fishing from shore. As we were fishing, we saw a lot of tourney guys. Found out there was a tourney there in the next couple days, so the guys were doing a little pre-fishing. We noticed these pros were flying through our area in a hurry. We also noticed not 1 of them caught a bass. We just smiled and kept fishing. By lunch, we all had at least 5 or 6 nice bass, but we weren’t done yet. We spent all afternoon. At the end of a long day, we managed to reel in 50 plus bass. What did I note from the tourney guys? Well, we didn’t see them reel any bass in. They worked that area with far too much speed, and the wrong bait and presentation. It was all wrong. They were using spinners and cranks, but were working these baits way too fast. Some were only makin’ one cast at cover, before heading to the next spot. This is what we did. We were using a twin tailed grub by Gary Yamamoto and one from another company called Chompers. We had these grubs Texas rigged on 3/0 Gammy hooks. We would cast them out and really just let the bass grab them off the bottom. Then we’d give the bait a little pop here and there, but overall a very slow presentation. A lot of the time you would go to pop the bait, and the fish was on. Well, just a thought. I also wanted to say that all day we focused on a few patches of cover and all day we where productive. I also have to say that my girl pulled in a nice 18inch largemouth and her brother pulled in a 21 inch largemouth weighing in at 5lbs, so if you go and something isn’t working, try changing the little stuff first…like slowing or speeding your presentation. Then, if you still get no bite, switch your crank bait to plastic or spinner to popper and you should get results as well as learn a few new tricks. by Big Mike Baptiste from Green Bay, Wisconsin http://www.fishinsecrets.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Mike_Baptiste http://EzineArticles.com/?Dont-Get-In-Too-Much-of-a-Hurry&id=238067 ambien sleeping pill ambien board message xanex ambien loratab sonata vs ambien

Your Career - Have You Met A Roadblock?

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Tony Jacowski Most of the time it is employees who feel stuck and cornered and their career not advancing as they would like it to. After putting in all the hard work and gaining experience and they thought everything was just right for their career to advance. Then they realize that something is amiss and they are stuck when the rest of the world is merrily marching ahead. But hold on a minute; before putting the blame on someone else, have you thought about what could have happened? Here are a few indicators that tell you if you have met a roadblock in your career path: 1. You are sailing along, making your superiors look good and making money for the company. And just when you thought you were about to get that promotion, you find someone new arising on the horizon and you suspect he is brought to stop you from getting the new position, or at worst, dislodge you from your job. 2. You are doing just fine and the company (your employer) has even promised you a bonus the next fiscal quarter. You discover, one fine day, that your company is finding it difficult to live up to their promises in the face of new competition and is, in fact, planning huge layoffs. 3. You realize, after putting in years of sweat and hard work, that your employer (a small cap company) is being more than conservative in this competitive world with no plans for expansion or technical upgrades to face challenges. The gains you made are withering away. If you stay in this place any longer, you face the danger of losing out completely. 4. You think, quite often, that there is too much work and you are unable to handle it as well as you would have liked. You want to demand/request more resources or manpower irrespective of whether the increased workload is illusionary or real. You think that adding a few more hands will ease the pressure but management is skeptical and denies your request. 5. You took a job with a small company, as you were in urgent need of earning an income. You had hoped to seek a better one as thing progressed. Now you find it hard to convince large companies of your abilities, as they look down upon you as a guy from a small company used to an alien work culture. 6. A sizeable number (59%) of employees dont think depression and illness is a roadblock to their career advancement. The situation is worse with female employees thinking (of course, not without truth) that sexism/harassment, pregnancy and childcare are their roadblocks (source: depression center, University of Michigan). There are many people who think, at times, that they are stuck at a roadblock concerning their career ambitions. Sports figures (remember Jennifer Capriati); politicians and business people, all find themselves in this similar, Catch-22, situation. They are often at a loss for ideas as to how to move forward. Knowing the early signs of career stagnation will put you on the track to career recovery. Tony Jacowski is a quality analyst for The MBA Journal. Why Women Test Men They Are Dating!

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Mick Jones No doubt dating online or off, you have been and are been tested by women. Why? Well thats a long winded answer, and I gave up physco analyzing women a long time ago. Even women will admit they cant understand themselves! So what chance do us humble males have? Zip! None! Zilch! So best to just ACCEPT that they do and will test us. Be aware of it when it happens and deal with it in a way that gains us the authority and understanding in the relationship. Below are some examples of how women test us. Why the testing? 1. They test us to see how strong emotionally we are. 2. They test us to see how smart we are. 3. They test us because they crave drama in their lives. 4. Some test because they enjoy making us uncomfortable. 5. They test us because they can. :-] The following examples are tests from the type of women you do not want to get involved with. So be aware of, and try to avoid these types of women. Lets look at the tests. 1) The old ‘outrageously flirting with another man in front of you’ test. 2) The old ‘yelling at you for checking out another girl to see what you do test. 3) The horrible and dreaded ‘canceling a date at the last moment for no reason’ test. 4) The worst one of all, ‘getting you really turned on while making out and then saying no to see if you really respect me’ test. [I really dont like this one.] There are many, many more tests but this is enough for the purpose of this article. Now lets look at ways to RESPOND to these nasty little tests as opposed to REACTING. 1) The old ‘outrageously flirting with another man in front of you’ test. a. This one was really tough to take with a woman I was in love with for a long time. I thought she would grow out of it. But she didnt. What I learnt to do however was to ignore her when it happened and enjoy my evening by chatting to other women or friends of hers. The best thing you can do is to NOT make a mention of it or big deal of it. If possible strike up a conversation with either her good looking friends or other women at the venue you are in. This will cool her off and if it doesnt, you may have an unsuitable partner who will flirt every time you go out. You can only change yourself and your emotions so its unlikely she will change this habit. If she flirts, ignore it and enjoy your night. If she is always a flirt, you need to move on from her, she is trouble. 2) The old ‘yelling at you for checking out another girls arse to see what you do test. a. To start with, try to avoid checking out other girls in her presence. This gives you integrity and a style above others. If she does lose it without reason for doing so, she is likely insecure and looking for drama. Dont yell back at her and calmly tell her to settle down. Smiling, tell her you are going to spank her when you get home if she doesnt behave. This should defuse it, by getting a laugh and she may just want you to spank her! :-] 3) The horrible and dreaded ‘canceling a date at the last moment for no reason’ test. a. This is really disappointing isnt it? You are about to walk out the door and she sends a smsCanceling. The most effective way to avoid this is to mention that one of the worst things women can do is to not show up and cancel dates. If you state this when you arrange for a meeting, it does helpprevent it from happening. We are all busy and need to plan ahead to be effective. However be careful not to write her off as she may have a legit reason for it happening. If it happens twice in a row, shes gonedont put up with it! 4) The worst one of all, ‘getting you really turned on while making out but then saying no to see if you really respect me’ test. The toughest one of all. Best to back off a little and be calm about it. Dont sulk or push it. Just relax and have a bit of fun somehow. If you are cool about it and she can see that you arent stressed, shell likely relax and you have passed the test. Then just gently start making out again.Chances are you have proven that you respect her by remaining calm and playful. There you have it. You will be tested, thats life, How we respond to it is the key Author, Mick Jones. Mick has cut his teeth on the front line of the online dating battlefields. Weight Loss Today | Get up and Start Moving

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Josh Ebert It is time to get off the couch and start moving. We have become way too complacent with our lifestyle today. There is nothing motivating us anymore to get off our butts. Did you know American has become the worlds Fattest Nation, this fact is terrible and must be changed. According to the Center of Disease Control, 300,000 people die annually from obesity related health problems. Approximately 57% of adults in American, that is a ratio of 1 in 6 are obese. Fast food has become our way of life. Forget about coming home after a long day and cooking a healthy meal. We are too exhausted from work all day. We have to have the newer car and the bigger house. There is no time to take care of our selves. We are working day in day out to live out our material lifestyle. This lifestyle is killing us as a nation. We have forgotten how to eat healthy, exercise, and take personal time to refocus our energy. These are all attributes of the past. Diet pills are on the move. Why do we think that taking a pill can solve everything? This is nuts; putting man made chemicals in our body does nothing but cause harm, if not right away then eventually down the road. There is no easy way out. We just have to make the choice to get up, move and start putting healthier food into our bodies. God provides us with all natural foods, grown from the earth. Since when are we better than God? The food industries are stripping out natural nutrients and putting in additives for preservation, taste and color. What is the solution? They try and put some vitamins back by adding them unnaturally to our foods. Thanks! We have got to start changing our daily routine. First off, we have to start eating better. Start preparing healthy meals everyday, breakfast, lunch and dinner. You should also eat a healthy snack between breakfast and lunch, another between lunch and dinner. This will jump start your metabolism and keep it up and running. You will also avoid the stomach growls of hunger during the day. This will keep your sugar cravings to a minimum. Secondly, start drinking more water. Water is extremely essential for everyday life. It provides energy, decreases hunger, and increases mental clarity. You need about half your body weight in ounces of water per day. For example, a 150-pound person would need about 75 ounces per day. That is about 5-6 large glasses of water per day. Last, start moving your body. You need aerobic exercise minimum 30 min per day 4-5 days per week. Again, this is a minimum recommendation. A fast paced walk or slow jog will start you off in the right direction, slowly advance the intensity, frequency and duration as you get in better shape. Start today, dont wait any longer, get up and get moving!- Get your free newsletter on the top 5 habits to transform your life. The Real “Secret” to Your Lean Body for Life

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By Scott Abbett How many times do you and I have to read that we should eat five to six small meals a day to lose body fat? We see it ad nauseam to the point where I’m losing my appetite for frequent meals. By now, not only does every fat loss “expert” know about this piece of advice, but most neophytes as well. What about the advice that says we should eat smaller portions? I think I knew this intuitively when I was ten years old. However, that didn’t stop me from being a big fat guy a mere eighteen years later. Somewhere in the interim, my intuitive and gained knowledge became irrelevant in the face of my desire to stuff double cheeseburgers and oversized servings of fries into my stomach. And it’s doubtful that anyone derives more pleasure from piling down those empty calories than I did. To this day, I’ve a proclivity for eating large quantities at mealtime. Maybe it stems from a greater-than-average feeling of discomfort with the symptoms of hunger maybe I just like to feel satiated. I now keep the calories from being empty to prevent my stomach from feeling that way. But what has really kept me lean? I’ve been lean and rock solid with never more than 10 % body fat for seven years now and not the slightest bit of “struggle” to stay that way. This is from a guy who used to carry a nearly 40-inch waistline. Sure, sometimes a day passes in which I haven’t eaten six total meals. Sometimes it’s only four. Also, I don’t always eat small quantities. In fact, just four days prior to this writing, I ate an entire large pizza by myself. That pizza wasn’t something out of the diet section of the grocery store either; it had some calorie-packed toppings and was dripping with extra cheese. That’s the only way to eat pizza in my book. I ate that calorie-dense meal on my “cheat day”. You’ve probably heard of the concept; you eat clean and healthy for six days or so and then, bam turn your body into a one-day starch pump that also gets big doses of dietary lard just to grease up the joints. The cheat day concept is believed by some to actually speed up the metabolism once stricter eating habits are resumed in the days that follow. Personally, I haven’t seen evidence of this. I think its value just lies in the fact that it alleviates feelings of deprivation. But my cheat day doesn’t threaten me with the prospect of a relapse into old habits and regained body fat. The reason is one shared by many people who lose substantial unwanted pounds and manage to keep it off. Long-term success boils down to the way one sees himself or herself at a subconscious level. It comes from a change in self image. In psychology circles, they refer to it as the self concept. I prefer the term used by Dr. Maxwell Maltz in his groundbreaking book, Psycho-Cybernetics.(1) Dr. Maltz said our self image is like a subconscious blueprint of the “kind of person we think we are”, right down to the finest detail. It’s formed for most of us through a haphazard process of having emotionally digested the experiences and words (both positive and negative) that came barreling at us mostly in childhood. If we formed our self-beliefs through mainly the positive words and experiences, we’re usually in pretty good shape (self image-wise). If the negatives took too big of a hold, we can end up with erroneous self beliefs that contribute to a potential-stymieing self image. This subconscious self blueprint can’t help but have an enormous effect on one’s tendency to experience either ongoing success or disappointing recidivism when undergoing a fat loss program. But our respective self images are our own responsibility once we’re older. That’s why we can read about eating five to six meals a day or cutting down on high glycemic carbs until the cows come home and it’s not enough. It’s our refusal to relinquish the will power game and realize the biggest lessons to learn pertain to that gray matter between our ears, not just the macro-nutrient matter in a protein bar. So the natural question becomes: What change occurred in my self image that makes keeping the fat off so easy? Well, I used to think of myself as a big guy who loved to eat. Now I see myself as a high-performance person who loves eating to fuel his body. A high-performance individual is not someone who doesn’t enjoy his or her food; just someone who sees eating as mostly a means of fueling high performance and not as a constantly sought pleasure in and of itself. As a person with a self image of high performance, I savor all the benefits (direct and indirect) of being lean and full of energy and vitality. At a subconscious level, these benefits far outweigh those of fleshly and immediate gratification that pervaded my inner desires prior to my self image becoming that of a high performer. Notice that I said direct and “indirect” benefits. In order for you to successfully change your self image, it’s important to internalize every kind of benefit you will get by doing so. This can build a mountain of reasons that can make the immediate gratification benefits into molehills by comparison. Example: Losing body fat and maintaining leanness can create higher daily energy levels for your body. This can surely lead to more productivity in whatever else you do; whether you’re a professional or a homemaker. Being more productive can lead to higher success levels within those other life contexts. This can lead to a higher quality and happier life. How about this: Being lean and attractive can draw someone desirable into your life, or it can spice up your relationship with your spouse or significant other. That can lead to more contentment, which can support you in all your other endeavors. Another key to aligning your self image for long-term leanness is to go at the fat loss slowly, but not too slowly. This is where things can get tricky. We need to lose body fat slowly enough as let our subconscious minds develop a lean self image, but not so slowly that the fat loss seems imperceptible. Many people adopt the latest diet craze and lose fat so fast that their subconscious self image figuratively “snaps” them back to where they started. Conversely, losing fat too slowly can be so dull as to cause you to forget you were ever doing it in the first place. In that situation, a big piece of cheese cake staring at you from the food counter at a party can look like the perfect salve for the hurt you felt when none of the attendees noticed the five pounds you’ve lost. The best way to lose body fat slowly enough for your self image to change, yet not so slowly as to lose momentum, is to utilize multi-step gradualism. This is especially effective if you begin this technique with tactics that cause the greatest amount of fat loss with the least amount of effort and discomfort. Example: Most people can lose substantial fat pounds by merely reducing their carbohydrate intake as the day wears on. No pain, no drastic deprivation; just a simple macro-nutrient intake shift that can melt cellulite off for the first couple months. Think about that for a moment. If all you did was shift most of your carbohydrate intake to the morning hours and stop eating carbs entirely during the six hours before bedtime, you’d probably lose ten or twenty pounds of fat. When that fat has been removed, you can then implement an additional tactical step, and so on. When we focus our minds on the powerful life benefits (both direct and indirect) of being lean and shed off the fat pounds with scheduled, incremental tactics, our subconscious self image has a chance to make its vital shift. When one masters for himself or herself how to do this, the big “secret” to long-term leanness is discovered. Then all those books and articles saying you “should eat five or six small meals a day” and “cut down on your portions” can be seen for what they are; the repeating of terrific tactics but not everything you’ll need for long-term success. How to Avoid the Freshmen 15

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

By Joey Dweck Walk to Class Most large college campuses offer inter-campus bus service to help transport students from one side of the campus to the other. It is essential if you are going to keep your weight down that you avoid these shuttles at all costs. Often times, it is very easy to jump on the bus if the time is short between two classes at opposite ends of the campus. Keep in mind that most campuses are less than half a mile in diameter. Walking at a rapid pace, your rate should be somewhere around 15 minutes per mile. Thus, it should take you no more than 10 minutes, maximum, to make it from one side of campus to the next. Most classes have at least a 15-minute window in between the finish and start times. However, if you have any doubt about making the time, do a practice walk on a day when you do not have to make it by the time the bell rings. Grab a Gym Buddy Grab a buddy to take to the gym. Working out with a buddy will motivate you to go to the gym regularly and it will be fun to challenge each other to keep the gym dates as the course load and social life becomes busier. Make sure you have a gym buddy that is equally as motivated as you so that you do not end up losing your motivation. Many college gyms offer group fitness classes in addition to traditional gym workout facilities. If you find that you regular routine needs a jump-start to keep you motivated, enroll in a class or two that you have never taken before. The challenge of trying something new can help you keep your interest level in exercise high. Join a Club Club sports are very popular on college campuses. If you played a sport in high school, then chances are good that you will be able to find the sport in a club or intramural team in college. If you did not play a sport but would like to get active, then join the running or hiking club. For a complete list of clubs on your campus, contact your local student activities office or school gym. You could be surprised by how many fun groups there are on your campus. Select Salads Many freshmen gain their weight in the cafeterias. For the first time in your life, you will be offered limitless amounts of food. Most cafeterias serve just about any food that you could possibly imagine. However, in order to maintain a healthy diet, it is important that you avoid high-fat, calorie rich foods, such as the ever-present grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza and pastas. Opt instead for a gourmet salad, complete with turkey slices and nuts. Youll be amazed by how much better you will feel when you treat your body right. Studies Identify Relationships Between Sleep and Weight Gain (Part 2)

Friday, March 14th, 2008

By Michael Callen In part one of this series, we discussed a relationship between sleep and weight, and three hormones that had serious implications when it comes to weight loss or gain. Two hormones were discussed in part one of this series (leptin and cortisol) and today we are going to discuss the third, human growth hormone (HGH). A 1999 study published in “The Lancet” followed a group of young men who were limited to just 4 hours of sleep for sixteen straight days had increased levels of cortisol - which slows metabolism and causes fat to be stored - and decreased levels of leptin - which cause a “satisfied” feeling when the body has consumed enough food. As a follow up to this study, Eve Van Cauter (the head researcher) looked more deeply into the effects of sleep deprivation on the body’s chemistry - particularly as it pertains to weight loss or gain. The results of the follow up study were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2000. The follow up study looked at the phases of sleep that a person experiences and how those phases change as a person gets older. It seems that as men age, they experience less “deep sleep” than when they were younger. Women, on the other hand, experience about the same amount of “deep sleep” throughout their lives, until after menopause when their sleep patterns more closely match that of a similarly aged male. So what, you ask, does that have to do with weight gain or loss? The answer varies whether you are a male or a female, and has to do with the third hormone we will discuss: human growth hormone. HGH, as it is commonly called, is secreted into the blood stream for the purpose of repairing muscle and tissue. If you are exercising, you are actually damaging your muscles by creating tiny tears in the tissues. This is how we gain lean muscle. We break down the muscle when we exercise, and then we rebuild it at night while we sleep. Men secrete two-thirds of their HGH during the periods of “deep sleep” and women secrete one-third of thiers. If you are robbing yourself of valuable sleep, you aren’t getting to the point where HGH is getting into your blood stream. The less “deep sleep” that a person experiences, the less HGH that is available to build lean muscle. What makes this worse is that the study found (at least for men) that even if they get the same number of hours of sleep as a younger man, they still get less “deep sleep” than their younger counterparts. Van Cauter’s research showed that a 45-year-old man’s HGH production will have decreased by 75% as compared to a 25-year-old. Since the odds are stacked against us as we get older, what are we to do? As you may be aware, the body is an efficient and hard-working machine. It has three major processes that operate over the course of the day. We work (exercise), we make energy (digest) and we repair (sleep), just not all at once. Each of the processes requires too much energy to be efficiently performed while another is being completed. If you don’t believe me, eat a big meal and go run for two hours. The body was designed to fuel and then work and then refuel and work some more, and then repair itself overnight. The more HGH that is released into the blood stream, the more muscle repair, and even lean muscle gain, takes place. Two things that we can do to help stack the odds in our favor are to make time for exercise and sleep, and to supplement with time release whey protein before sleep. Supplementing with whey protein (such as NightTrainer, http://www.nighttrainer.com) puts the building blocks of muscle (protein and amino acids) into your body so that they’re available to help the HGH build more lean muscle. (An added benefit I’ve noticed is that because it comes in chocolate and vanilla flavor, I can avoid eating dessert when I’m craving something sweet late at night, knowing I’ll soon be enjoying my protein drink.) As has been chronicled here and myriad other texts, building lean muscle is exactly what one needs to do in order to win the battle of the bulge. Sweet dreams!
